"We sent a confirmation code to your phone" — and nothing arrives. Whether you are verifying a new Facebook account or an existing one under review, a missing SMS is one of the most common friction points. Here is why it happens and what actually fixes it.
Why Facebook codes go missing
- Carrier filtering — some mobile networks silently drop short-code SMS from Facebook, especially on prepaid SIMs.
- VoIP rejection — Facebook detects internet-based numbers and simply never sends the message.
- Rate limits — hammering "resend code" triggers a cooldown; each press can reset the timer.
- Country mismatch — a VPN in one country plus a number from another is a classic block.
Fixes in order of likelihood
- Wait 10 minutes, then resend once. Codes delayed by carrier congestion usually land inside that window.
- Match your geography. If you use a VPN, set it to the same country as the number — Facebook cross-checks.
- Try a different number. If yours is VoIP or recycled, it will never arrive. A fresh non-VoIP number from a different country often works instantly.
- Use the "call me" option carefully — it only works on lines that can receive voice calls, which disposable numbers cannot.
When the number itself is the problem
If you are verifying with a virtual number, order a real-SIM (non-VoIP) route — these come from actual carrier inventory and look identical to Facebook as a normal phone. On AgoVerify, timed-out orders are cancelled and refunded automatically, so testing a second country or route costs nothing.
One more thing: once the code finally arrives, add an authenticator app under Settings → Security → Two-Factor Authentication. It ends the SMS dependency for good.
