SMS Code Not Arriving? A Troubleshooting Checklist That Works

01/10/2026

You ordered a number, entered it in the app, tapped "send code" — and nothing came. Before paying for another route, run through this checklist; the cause is almost always one of six things.

The checklist

  1. Wait the full window. Codes are not always instant — give it 3-5 minutes. Every "resend" can restart the delivery queue.
  2. Match your VPN country to the number's country. WhatsApp, Google, and Facebook cross-check IP against the number's prefix; a mismatch is the single most common cause of silent failure.
  3. Check for a country-level block. Some services simply do not SMS certain countries. If one route fails twice, change country — do not fight it.
  4. Look for a "call me instead" fallback. Some apps offer voice verification — disposable numbers cannot receive calls, so that path is a dead end; pick a different number instead.
  5. Consider the number's history. Recycled numbers can be flagged by the target service. A fresh number on a different route usually fixes it.
  6. Stop resending. Repeated code requests trip anti-abuse cooldowns that can last an hour.

Your money is not stuck

On AgoVerify, an order that never receives an SMS expires and the charge refunds to your balance automatically — no ticket, no arguing with support. Treat failed deliveries as free retries: swap country, reorder, try again.

When it's the app's fault

Occasionally the sender itself is degraded — Meta and Google both have SMS outages. If three different countries all fail on the same service within minutes, check the service's status and wait rather than burning routes.
